I n the last weeks I held speeches and organized workshops on “self branding” and was constantly approached regarding a certain point, which obviously caused difficulties for the participants: the focus on very few, but outstanding talents.
Don’t you think it is rather difficult, to focus and to put all one’s eggs in one basket? Of course, this is on the one hand very risky. On the other hand you have acquired in the last years a lot of competencies, which you appreciate. But nevertheless: You have to restrict yourself and focus. Because a brand leader is never an all rounder. Focused on a certain image. Focused on that, what makes it special and which guarantees the brand recognition.
Branding-Action: Get focused!
The following hints will help you to watch the focus of your brand and keep your profile slim lean and catchy:
- If you’ve got the feeling that your strengths get bogged down and you can’t concentrate on one topic: Think of how you would like to be known and where you would like to achieve your success. And then concentrate totally and utterly on that topic.
- If you think it will be too risky to put all your eggs in one basket: Keep in the mind’s eye those personalities, who are successful (even beyond their death), due to the fact that they took this risk: Roger Federer, Hillary Clinton, Kurt Aeschbacher, Georgia O’Keefe, in order to mention some of them.
- If you lose sight of your focus from time to time: Join your image with a color and enclose yourself with objects in that color. That’s how you remember your focus, anytime you see that objects (my color is for example red – but this will not surprise you – I guess ;-).
